On Saturday, May 15th, FIU's School of Environment and Society will host a teach-in on the current oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. The teach-in will be held at FIU's Biscayne Bay Campus, Wolfe University Center Ballroom from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Topics will include:
- History of Oil Spills in Gulf, Deepwater Horizon, and Potential Impacts to South Florida
- Chemistry of Oil Spills and Toxic Effects on Organisms
- Potential Oil Spill Effects on Coastal Habitats of Florida
- Policy and Energy Implications of the Oil Spill
