According to the latest global energy outlooks from the U.S. and Europe, there is enough gas in the world to last 200 years at current rates of consumption. Much of this gas is "unconventional" and will be produced by a process called "fracking" that has resulted in a lot of sensational press coverage. What does this global gas abundance mean for North America in general and Florida in particular? How much of what you see in the press about "fracking" is truth and how much is fiction? To learn about the "Gas Revolution" and what it means for you in your business and personal life, plan to attend this conference to learn how the gas revolution is changing the global geopolitics of energy as well as the outlook for global warming and climate change.
This conference is co-sponsored by FPL, the Consulate General of Canada in Miami and Florida Natural Gas Association and is organized by the Global Energy Security Forum of the School of International and Public Affairs.
Speakers
Don McClure, VP, Government & Stakeholder Relations & Legal, Encana, Canada's leading gas company, will present an overview of North American gas in a global context.
Mark Boling, Executive VP of Southwestern Energy (SWN) and President of V+ Development Solutions, will explain fracking, the technology used to produce shale gas.
Kevin McCrackin, VP of Marketing for AGL Resources, will discuss the political and regulatory outlook for gas and its relevance to transportation and power generation, particularly in Florida.
The session will be chaired by Dr. Edward Glab, Director of the Global Energy Security Forum.
